	1001	Norse establish settlement in Vinland
	1050- 1250	Height of influence of Cahokia
	1455	Johannes Gutenberg and the Printing Press
	1492	Columbus reaches the Bahamas
	1497	Cabot reaches North America
	1506	Columbus dies
	1513	Ponce de León explores "La Florida"
	1519--1521	Cortés invades Mexico
	1528	The REAL Pocahontas--John Smith story takes place, only the Indian maiden is Ulele and the John Smith role is played by Juan Ortiz. One more thing: It takes place near Tampa Bay!
	1534 - 1535	Cartier explores St. Lawrence River
	1539 - 1542	De Soto explores Southeast
	1540 - 1542	Coronado explores Southwest
	1565	St. Augustine founded by Spanish
	1587 - 1590	Raleigh's Roanoke colony
	1588	Spanish Armada (first of four Spanish attempts to destroy England)
	1598	Oñate conquers Pueblos in New Mexico for Spain
	circa 1600	Cahokia is abandoned--Disease, possibly Smallpox or the Plague is blamed. Their extensive trading network brought more than they bargained for.
	1607	First permanent English colony at Jamestown
	1619	First African slaves brought to Jamestown
	1620	Separatist Puritans (aka Pilgrims) come to settle Plymouth
	1621	First Thanksgiving
	1630	Puritans flood into Massachusetts Bay area
	1680	Popé's Rebellion
